"New Church Garden" Project
December 2010:
(Peter Anzalone):
I am adding a plaque to the site of my Eagle Project. In case you did not know, the Troop helped me build a garden out in front of All Saints Church here is Stoneham. It was suggested to me to dedicate the garden, and so, after talking with the Priest there and some member of the Troop, the garden is going to be dedicated to the citizens of Stoneham. I ordered the plaque last night, and it will be here by next week at the latest. I am planning on having a little dedication ceremony, and hopefully the Priest (Fr. Christian Brocato) of the Church will bless the garden. Here is a picture of what the stainless steel plaque looks like:

June 17, 2010: Our 2010 year-ending Court of Honor was this past Tuesday. Among the many recognitions were ASM Tim O'Brien's Eagle Scout Mentor Pins, Scout and Tenderfoot ranks for our new Scouts, and Scout Master of Service Award for ASM Larry Buckley. Check "Forms and Files" for the program.June 7, 2010: The June Adult Planning meeting was tonight. Among the many topics coved were:
-the upcoming Court of Honor
-Summer Camp
-Fundraisers
-Merit Badges
Families should be, in the next few days, be expecting an e-mail of a FOOD LIST for the Court of Honor. If everyone brings something on that list, that will cover the refreshments for the evening. We ask everyone to choose a few items to bring to the Court of Honor.
Another thing discussed was involvement in the Troop from the new parents, whether it be being a Merit Badge Counselor or committing to attend two or three camping trips throughout the year. Detailed information is forthcoming, probably at the Court of Honor next week.
May 19, 2010: This week's meeting was a good one for merit badges. Many Scouts started Family Life, among others. Merit Badge Counselors Mrs. Rourke (Communications) and Mrs. Anzalone (Family Life, Citizenships) came down to our meeting to work on requirements with the Scouts. Our skill last night was knot tying. Chip DeBruykere worked on that with the Troop. Next week for a skill, we are planning to work on whipping and fusing ropes (pages 380-381, Scout Handbook)
May 12, 2010: Last night at the meeting, Mr. Paine and Mr. Woodman reminded us that one of the points in the Scout Law requires Scouts to respect others- peers, older Scouts, adult leaders. If the older Scouts are not showing respect for others in the Troop, what kind of example is this to the new Scouts? Let's try to work on this more next week...
